Today, the field of ‘Management’ requires talented and skilled professionals to successfully navigate the dynamic and ever-changing business environment. The BMS program offered by the college equips the students with the mandatory management skills and conceptual knowledge to become successful professionals and corporate leaders. The three-year self- financing program focuses on developing the creative and critical thinking and problem-solving skills of the learners.
The BMS program was started in the year 2010 with 4 students and has grown into a department with close to 400 students and 7 faculty members. The BMS course comprises of 3 years degree program with the option for students to specialise in Marketing, Finance or HR. The Program equips the student to undertake a career in different industries or to pursue entrepreneurship.The well-designed curriculum is a mix of classroom learning combined with projects, presentations, case studies as well group activities. The students are given ample opportunites to organise events and participate in events organised by the department as well as other colleges. The programs also helps students to develop their decision making capabilities, innovative thinking, as well as team skills.
Objectives of the Department :

In order to attain the objectives, we undertake several measures to support the students in their academic as well as co-curricular and extracurricular endeavors. We prepare our learners for a successful and fulfilling career ahead wherein they’ll contribute towards the expansion and development of the society as competent professionals. Towards this end, we facilitate short term courses like digital marketing, soft skills and communication, and certification programs like Tally, foreign language, etc.
The Buoyancy Club of the department is a student body managed by the students. The club provides platform to the students to don their thinking caps and plan, organise, conduct activities that would help them to polish their skills as well as provide opportunity to express and exhibit their talents. The club organises competitions, quiz, workshops and guest lectures. Some of the activities organised by the club include Power point Presentation competition, Instagram Reels, Infographics designing, e-Poster designing, Logo making, Filing IT returns, designing newsletters, Investment awareness, financial literacy sessions etc. The Ashwamedh Quiz is a national level online quiz conducted by the club which has seen tremendous response from students across India.
The Department Fest M-pulse is an annual event and student’s initiative has been themed around the current developments of the business and industry and has seen some eminent corporate leaders deliberating on topics from Industry 2.0, Retail developments, digital business, entrepreneurship etc. The fest also has competitions like business plan presentation, case solving, Cracking HR interview, Live trading etc.
Thus the program offered by the department not only focuses on producing management graduates but in crafting finer leaders for a sustainable tomorrow.

Outcome:
The Placement Cell organized a comprehensive career guidance program for final-year BMS students in the auditorium. The session focused on preparation strategies for competitive exams like CET and CAT, essential for pursuing higher education in management. Industry experts and academic mentors provided insights into exam patterns, time management, and effective study techniques. The event also included interactive segments where students addressed their queries regarding career planning and further studies. A project guidance session for the TYBMS final-year students was conducted in Room No. 108 on 18th November. Session was taken by Asst.Prof.Booma Halpeth.The session focused on providing students with comprehensive insights into the project guidelines, objectives, and deliverable s. Key topics discussed included the selection of project topics, research methodologies, report structuring, and presentation techniques. Students were encouraged to explore innovative ideas aligned with their areas of interest and industry trends. An HR session for TYBMS final-year HR students was conducted in the G-06 online mode. The session was conducted by Mrs. Pradnya Punekar, Suchita Nayak. The session aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of contemporary HR practices and their applications in the corporate world. Key areas covered included talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance appraisal, and organizational development. The resource person shared real-world examples and strategies to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry expectations. Students actively participated in discussions and raised queries about emerging trends in HR, such as AI in recruitment and workplace diversity. The session concluded with actionable insights and guidance to prepare students for HR roles, ensuring they are equipped to meet professional challenges effectively.

Purpose of the Activity: To help students gain an understanding of the importance of having a well-designed performance management system and how it can be used to improve organisational performance.
Outcome: An industry expert session was conducted for HR specialisation students from TYBMS and SYBMS on the topic ‘Performance Management in Industry.’ The resource person for the same was Mr. G. Subramanian, a veteran in HR sector with about 24 years of corporate experience. A total of 71 students including 54 girls and 17 boys attended the session.
The session covered various aspects of performance management such as performance planning, its components, performance appraisal, performance review and feedback, etc. He emphasised on the importance of measuring and assessing performance, and offering constructive feedback. Sir also covered the concepts of OKRs and KPIs, the 9-box model to identify high potential performers, competency model, etc.

Industrial Visit to JNPA Port

Venue : Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Navi Mumbai
Purpose of the Activity: The objective of the visit was to learn about the port operations, logistics and shipping.
Outcome:
A one day visit to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), was organised for the TYBMS students on 21st August, 2023. A total of 104 learners participated in the industrial visit. They were accompanied by management members Mr. Suresh Ram Sir and Mrs. Chandra Nathan Ma’am and three faculty members. The main purpose of the visit was to acquaint students with various activities and functions related to the port. The students were oriented about the history and the future vision of JNPA, formerly JNPT. Mr. Sanjay Patil, from JNPA welcomed students and gave an overview of the port facilities, the cargo handling and the five container terminals operated by JNPA. Commissioned on 26th May, 1989, the JNPA also known as Nhava-Sheva Port is ranked 26th in the world in the list of top 100 container ports. Students were further briefed about the objectives and scope of Vadhvan Port project site in Palghar district, that will be jointly implemented by JNPA and Maharashtra Maritime Board.
The industrial visit to JNPA was a valuable learning opportunity for the students, as they gained practical knowledge and exposure to one of the leading ports in India. The visit also enhanced their awareness and interest in logistics, shipping and port management.

Spell Bee competition

Purpose of the Activity: The activity was conducted by Buoyancy club in order to stimulate interest and awareness towards management related terms and vocabulary.
Outcome:
Four rounds made up the event spell bee;
Round 1: Rapid fire
It had two mini rounds and a 10-second time limit. 10 points were awarded. Teams were eliminated at the conclusion.
Round 2: Classic Spell Bee
There was an untimed one-on-one match between the two teams.
Each team has two chances to respond. 20 points were awarded, and incorrect responses received a lower score. Teams were eliminated at the conclusion of the round.
Round 3: Give it a name!
The teams had to guess and name the term that was defined or described. There were no deducted marks in this round; the correct answer was worth 20 points. teams were eliminated at the conclusion of the round.
Round 4: Raise The Bar
A one-on-one match between two teams took place in this round as well. each group was asked 4 words. There was a 10-second time limit for each word. 20 points were awarded for a successful response, marks were deducted for incorrect response.
on the basis of the top 3 scores, the winners were selected.
Students from various departments, including BMS, BAF, B.COM, B.SCIT, and BBI, participated in the event. More than 60 students attended the event, which featured 25 different groups.

Outcome: An inspirational session to motivate the students was organised. Lt cdr Bijay Nair
shared his experiences of joining Indian navy and being a war veteran from Kargil. His
spine-chilling war experiences and his motivation during tough times were lessons for the
students and was well appreciated. A total of 157 students comprising of 59 boys and 98
girls attended the session.

Outcome: The annual intercollegiate fest M-Pulse themed Logiquest was organised by Buoyancy club of the department. The fest began with a guest lecture by Industry Expert Mr. Karthikeyan Iyer who spoke about the emerging trends in Logistics and career opportunities that are available for the students. The industry expert session was well received by the audience and the session was followed by the grand inaugural of the fest. The team members had curated competitions and went on extensive promotion including having a Instagram reel with Dora the explorer and several other campaigns. The fest had participants from other departments and the following events were conducted cash on delivery, horns and claws, castle crashers, logiquiz, dare to escape etc. A total of 207 students comprising of 100 boys and 107 girls attended the session, The students team worked right from ideation to conceptualising and implementing the event.
