Blood is essential to help patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. This lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation. The need for blood is constant.

Outcome: The NSS volunteers actively participated in the drive and the volunteers were responsible for distributing the cotton bags among the public, while also stating the benefits of cotton over the use of plastic, both in short and long term. The volunteers interacted with the public and made them aware about the harmful effects of plastic on the environment. The Volunteers encouraged the public to make eco-friendly products like cotton bags, whenever possible.

Purpose of the Activity:  NSS Unit of S.I.A College have ignited the flame of the nation-wide “MERI MAATI MERA DESH; MITTI KO NAMAN VEERON KA VANDAN” campaign, began on 9th August, 2023 by taking the solemn Panch Pran Pledge to mark the commencement of this campaign. The pledge was eloquently articulated by the senior-most volunteer, Gayatri Vetal.

Outcome: The NSS Volunteers took the Panch Pran Pledge with the fistful of soil in their hands. The volunteers pledged to:

1. Make India developed and self-reliant by 2047, 2. Remove any trace of colonial mindset, 3. Celebrate our heritage, 4. Strengthen unity and respect those who protect our country, and 5. Perform the duties of a citizen.

The objective of this activity was to make the students aware of the use of paper bags that would help to fight climate change and environmental pollution caused by plastic. The NSS Volunteers actively participated in the activity and the bags were later distributed in the NSS adopted area.

Purpose of the Activity: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah under the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership launched the Amrit Kalash Yatra as part of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign in New Delhi on 1st September 2023, celebrating India’s 75 years of independence. Envisioning that by August 15, 2047, India would lead globally in various domains through the upcoming Amritkal and “Sankalp Se Siddhi” initiatives. The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ program aims to emotionally connect every individual, family, and citizen with the idea of creating a great India.

Outcome: The NSS Unit conducted a “Amrit Kalash” making activity on 08th September 2023 & 09th  September 2023 (2 days) for  3 hours. The objective of this activity was to make the volunteers aware of the Amrit Kalash activity by painting the kalash (mud pots). The NSS Volunteers actively participated in the activity and the pots  were later used for collecting soil.

Purpose of the Activity: On every Ganpati Visarjan, the city is choked with hundreds of tonnes of paper, plastic, thermocol, flowers, fruits, and cloth. The practice of throwing these items in Visarjan well enhances the water pollution.

Outcome: Along with the city-based NGO ‘Nirmal Youth Foundation’, NSS volunteers participated in the Nirmalya Collection Drive on Ganpati Visarjan which took place on 21st September 2023 at various Mandals of Dombivli by giving them door to door service. Materials such as paper, flowers, plastic, thermocol, fruits, and cloth items were collected & segregated into categories of Dry (Plastic) & (Nirmalya) Wet waste. Dry waste was handed over for recycling while wet waste was handed over for composting to the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC).

Outcome: Along with the city based NGO ‘Nirmal Youth Foundation’, NSS volunteers participated in the Nirmalya Collection Drive on the occasion of Ganpati Visarjan which took place on 25th September 2023 at various Mandals of Dombivli by giving them door to door service. Materials such as paper, flowers, plastic, thermocol, fruits, and cloth items were collected & segregated into categories of Dry (Plastic) & (Nirmalya) Wet waste. Dry waste was handed over for recycling while wet waste was handed over for composting to the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC).

Purpose of the Activity: Plastic pollution is the accumulation of plastic objects and particles (e.g. plastic bottles, bags and microbeads) in the Earth’s environment that adversely affects humans, wildlife and their habitat. As a step towards awareness about plastic usage & its disadvantages, NSS Unit had organized a street play which replicated the adverse effects of plastic pollution on human & animal life.

Outcome: NSS Unit had passed on a strong message to the public today via street play with regards to usage of plastic in day to day life can be hazardous & cause severe health issues or can lead to death even too.

Purpose of the Activity: On the occasion of Ganpati Visarjan, NSS unit & RTO collaboratively took an initiative by managing, controlling & navigating the people without any hassle. As a part of better traffic management, the volunteers were given proper orientation by the Sr. Police Officials Mr. Shashikant and Mr. Gangurda sir on how to deal with the people and crises situation if any arises.

Outcome: 22 Male & 28 Female NSS volunteers were deployed & divided in the significant and sensitive areas. Volunteers had managed to bring out hassle-free Traffic on the occasion of Ganesh Visarjan. NSS Unit had successfully helped traffic personnel by avoiding any chaotic situation leading the public to stay in Traffic for longer durations.

Purpose of the Activity: Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was initially started by our Honourable Prime Minister “Shri Narendra Modi” in the year 2014, as it was a Dream of our Leader “Mahatma Gandhi” to make our country a well-kept nation. The Campaign was aimed at an improvement in the general quality of life in the rural areas, streets, and roads from the garbage and plastic.

Outcome: NSS Volunteers actively participated, to clean the S.I.A college premises such as footpaths, roads, and ground etc. The NSS Volunteers have also sensitized the public of living in Sagarli Gaon, on hygiene maintenance of surrounding areas, and the volunteers made the public aware about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Purpose of the Activity: Gandhi Jayanti, celebrated on October 2 every year, marks the birthday of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. This day not only commemorates his birth but also celebrates his extraordinary contributions to India’s struggle for independence through non-violence and civil disobedience.

Outcome: Volunteers paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi by lighting candles and observing a moment of silence in his memory and honor. Volunteers also shared their poems and speeches on Gandhi, highlighting his contributions to humanity. Finally, a garland was placed on his photo, symbolizing our reverence for his ideals and teachings. The event was a meaningful tribute to one of the most respected figures in Indian history.

Purpose of the Activity: Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of an India which was not only free but also clean and developed. Mahatma Gandhi secured freedom for Mother India. Now it is our duty to serve Mother India by keeping the country neat and clean.

Outcome: The NSS Unit conducted a cotton bag-making activity from 25th July 2023 To 06th August 2023 (13 days) for 2 hours daily. The objective of this activity was to make the students aware of the use of cotton bags that would help to fight climate change and environmental pollution caused by plastic. The NSS Volunteers actively participated in the activity and the bags were later distributed in the NSS adopted area.

Purpose of the Activity:  NSS Unit of S.I.A College have ignited the flame of the nation-wide”MERI MAATI MERA DESH: MITTI KO NAMAN VEERON KA VANDAN” campaign, began on 9th August, 2023 to pay homage to the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Principal Dr. Padmaja Arvind, along with staff members, NSS Program officers and volunteers felicitated as a tribute to the courageous ‘Veers’ and is a culmination of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ which commenced on March 12, 2021. The initiative involves a series of programs nationwide, including the planting of trees in the villages, Panch Pran Pledge, etc.

Outcome: On 12th August, 2023 the NSS Unit of The S.I.A. College of Higher Education, Dombivli (East) organised a felicitation programme under the Mera Maati, Mera Desh: Veeron Ka Vandan initiative of the Government of India. Veeron ka Vandan is a heartfelt tribute to the brave hearts – the ‘Veers’ who dedicate their lives to safeguard the nation and serve and protect the citizens of the country. It honours their unwavering commitment and sacrifices in upholding the country’s sovereignty and integrity.

Outcome: NSS Volunteers were made aware of the role of volunteers during the Nirmalaya activity. The Session covered topics related to the environment, tree plantation, etc. Topics such as overuse of plastics, sewage management, details and achievement of their NGOs were covered. Volunteers were also made aware of different ways to manage garbage in day-to-day life. Volunteers actively participated in the discussion and learned things related to the environment.
