Name of the Event: Orientation for FY

Date: 22nd June 2026

Time: 11 am

Venue: 305 Classroom

The orientation session was organized for FYBCOM students for the batch of 2026-27 on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11 am. Students were asked to sit in 305 classroom. The orientation started with Kavitha mam addressing the students, welcoming them on their first day, and guiding them regarding different avenues available for commerce students. Thereafter, teachers of BCOM department oriented the students regarding the program outcomes, objectives of the department, faculty list, infrastructural facilities, placements available in the campus, and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that students can participate in. Principal Dr. Padmaja Arvind also addressed first-year students and explained to them the importance of the course and what will be the takeaway by the students from the S.I.A college of Higher Education. The students were also oriented with the NEP and its implementation. They were also oriented about the General instructions to be followed in the college premises. FYBCOM Students were also informed about the elective courses, namely Foundation of Life Skills and Introduction to Law and Civic Society, to enable them to choose the subject according to their interests and preferences. FYBCOM (Logistics) students were informed about their subjects.

Outcome: The orientation was well received by the participants and helped create a positive and informed beginning to their undergraduate journey. 42 male and 44 female beneficiaries from FYBCOM and 04 male and 05 female beneficiaries from FYBCOM (Logistics) attended the orientation.

Name of the Event: Fresher’s Fiesta for FYBCOM & FYBCOM (Logistics)

The Department of Commerce organized Fresher's Fiesta for the newly admitted students of FYBCOM and FYBCOM (Logistics) on 30th June 2026 in Room No. 109. The event was conducted to warmly welcome the freshers, help them interact with their classmates, and create a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere at the beginning of their academic journey.

The programme featured a variety of fun games and ice-breaking activities specially organized for the freshers. These games encouraged teamwork, communication, participation, and healthy competition among the students. The activities were designed to help the students overcome their initial hesitation, interact with one another, and build new friendships. The event also included entertainment and informal interactions, making the celebration lively and memorable.

A total of 53 students from FYBCOM attended the event, comprising 30 female and 23 male students. From FYBCOM (Logistics), 8 students participated, including 5 female and 3 male students.

Name of the Event: Counselling Session

Organizing Unit: Department of Commerce and Logistics

Venue: G3 Classroom

Purpose of the Activity: To promote effective communication and coordination between the college counsellor and first-year students while creating awareness about the counselling services available on campus.

Outcome: The Department of Commerce and Logistics organized a Counselling Session for the first-year B.Com and Logistics students on 23rd July, 2026, in the G3 Classroom. The session aimed to introduce students to the college Counselling Hub and familiarize them with its services and activities.

The counsellor addressed key topics such as mental health and well-being, emotional and social wellness, stress management, various forms of addiction, and the importance of seeking timely professional support. Students actively participated in the interactive session, engaged in meaningful discussions, and gained practical strategies for maintaining their mental and emotional well-being in their daily lives.
