Purpose of the Activity: The NSS Cell of the University of Mumbai, in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Bureau, organized an informative session on the significance of Vigilance Awareness Week. This initiative aims to promote transparency and integrity within various sectors, encouraging individuals to be vigilant against corruption.

Outcome: During the session, NSS volunteers from the college actively participated, engaging in discussions that highlighted the importance of ethical behavior and accountability. The event provided valuable insights into how vigilance can help combat corruption at both individual and institutional levels. Participants learned about various strategies to foster a culture of honesty and responsibility within their communities. Purpose of the Activity: NSS Cell of the University of Mumbai organized a significant Voter Awareness Session at the iconic Gateway of India, in anticipation of the upcoming Vidhansabha Election scheduled for November 20. This initiative aimed to educate and inform citizens about the importance of voting and civic engagement.

Outcome: The NSS Unit actively participated by deploying volunteers who attended the session to enhance their understanding and spread awareness within their communities. The event was graced by notable personalities, including Gauri Sawant, a prominent transgender activist known for her advocacy work, as well as a representative from the Mumbai ACP and various film celebrities. These influential figures emphasized the critical role that voting plays in shaping democracy and urged attendees to convey this message to others. Through discussions and interactions during this session, participants were encouraged to recognize their power as voters and understand that every vote counts in influencing governance and policy decisions.

Purpose of the Activity: The NSS unit of our college recently undertook a pamphlet distribution campaign in Sagarli Gaon, focusing on AIDS awareness among youth and young people. The initiative involved the distribution of 250 informative pamphlets that aimed to educate the community about the importance of understanding HIV/AIDS, its prevention, and the significance of safe practices.

Outcome: Through this activity, NSS volunteers participated in The pamphlet distribution Activity on AIDS awareness was a Successful initiative that achieved its objectives of creating awareness reducing stigma and discrimination and promotion positive attitudes and behaviours the activity demonstrates the importance of community based initiatives in promoting health awareness and Education

Purpose of the Activity: The main purpose of the street play was to raise awareness about human rights and their importance in our daily lives. The play aimed to educate the audience about the fundamental rights and freedoms that everyone is entitled to, and to promote a culture of respect, tolerance, and empathy.

Outcome:The street play on human rights was a huge success, with an overwhelmingly positive outcome. One of the primary achievements of the play was to raise awareness about human rights and their importance. By educating the audience about human rights, the play helped to increase understanding and appreciation of these fundamental rights.. Another significant outcome of the play was its ability to promote empathy among the audience. By encouraging the audience to understand and respect the rights of others, the play helped to foster a sense of community and shared humanity. This, in turn, helped to break down social and cultural barriers, and promoted a culture of tolerance and understanding.. The play also inspired action among the audience, motivating them to take steps to promote and protect human rights.

This initiative, aptly named “Helping Hand during Assembly Elections,” aimed to ensure that every eligible voter could cast their vote with ease and confidence.

Outcome: NSS Volunteers were strategically positioned at various polling stations across Dombivli, providing essential guidance to voters. They assisted individuals in locating their designated gates and offered support to senior citizens and persons with disabilities who may have faced challenges during the voting process. This hands-on approach not only facilitated a smoother voting experience but also fostered a sense of community engagement among students and locals alike.

Purpose of the Activity: On the 75th Constitution Day, the NSS Unit of S.I.A College joined forces with Kalina Mumbai University for an exciting rally that was all about celebrating our rights and spreading awareness about the Constitution of India. The NSS volunteers were not just participants they were beacons of encouragement, urging everyone around to learn more about their constitutional rights.

Outcome: NSS Unit of S.I.A College, Volunteers in a vibrant display of unity and patriotism. Starting from the Kalina University Health Centre, we marched a spirited 1.5 kilometers to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan. As we walked, chants of “Satyamev Jayate,” “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” and “Vande Mataram” filled the air, creating an electrifying atmosphere that showcased our love for our country. The event was expertly guided by Mr. Ravindra Kulkarni Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University and Mr. Sushil Shinde OSD of Mumbai University, who inspired us all to embrace the spirit of volunteerism and civic responsibility. It was more than just a rally; it was a celebration of our constitution, our rights, and what it means to be part of this incredible nation. Blood Donation Drive

Purpose of the Activity: The NSS Unit of the college, in collaboration with Sion Hospital, recently organized a successful Blood Donation Drive at Dombivli Railway Station. This initiative aimed to encourage community participation in a noble cause while addressing the critical need for blood donations.

Outcome: Throughout the day, NSS volunteers actively reached out to commuters and passersby, highlighting the importance of blood donation and its impact on saving lives. Their efforts paid off remarkably, as a total of 121 donors stepped forward to contribute. This impressive turnout not only reflects the community’s willingness to help but also underscores the significance of such drives in maintaining an adequate blood supply for hospitals and patients in need.

Purpose of the Activity: Children’s Day is celebrated in India to raise awareness about rights, education and welfare of Children. It is celebrated on 14th November every year on the occasion of the birthday of first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who was known to be fond of children.

Outcome: The NSS unit recently celebrated Children’s Day in a vibrant and engaging manner, bringing together college volunteers and students from the local Zilla Parishad School This event aimed to create a joyful atmosphere for the children while fostering a sense of community and support. The day was filled with various sports activities that encouraged teamwork and friendly competition among the students. NSS volunteers played an integral role in organizing these events, ensuring that each child had the opportunity to participate and enjoy themselves. The laughter echoed throughout the school grounds as funny activities unfolded, including races etc. that sparked joy among both volunteers and students

Outcome: Along with the city-based NGO ‘Nirmal Youth Foundation’, NSS volunteers participated in the Nirmalya Collection Drive on the occasion of Ganpati Visarjan at various places in Dombivli for Five (5) hours. All the paper, plastic, thermocol, flowers, fruits, and cloth items along with Ganesh idol were collected before the immersion and dry waste (Plastic) and wet waste (Nirmalya) were segregated. Dry waste was handed over for recycling and wet waste for composting to the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC).

This initiative aimed to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance public safety while thousands participated in the Ganesh Visarjan.

Outcome: Volunteers played a crucial role in this effort, working diligently from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM on 11th September 2024. Their responsibilities included directing vehicles, managing pedestrian movement, and assisting law enforcement officers in maintaining order during this busy period. By actively engaging with the community and promoting safe practices, these volunteers not only contributed to effective traffic management but also fostered a spirit of cooperation among festival-goers.

Purpose of the Activity: The NSS Unit of our college recently participated in rally known as Vriksha Dindi, organized by the NSS Unit of B.K. Birla College. This event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of tree planting in our communities.

Outcome: The event saw enthusiastic participation from our NSS Volunteers & other NSS Units across all colleges in the Thane district, coming together to spread their message through various slogans. The rally commenced in Kalyan West and traversed nearby areas, allowing participants to engage with the public directly. By sharing insights about how planting just one tree can make a substantial difference in combating climate change and enhancing local biodiversity, the rally aimed to inspire individuals to take action towards a greener future.

Purpose of the Activity: The NSS unit of the college recently organised an orientation program for the new first-year students to enrol in NSS. The orientation was led by the NSS Programme Officer, Mrs. Renu Verma, along with former NSS volunteers.

Outcome: The purpose of the orientation was to make the new students aware of the NSS and its various activities and initiatives. Mrs. Verma provided detailed information about the history, objectives, and structure of the NSS. She also highlighted the numerous volunteering opportunities available for the students through the NSS. The former NSS volunteers shared their experiences and the positive impact that being a part of the NSS had on their personal and professional development. They encouraged the new students to actively participate in the NSS and contribute to the community service projects organized by the unit. The orientation was well-received by the new students, who expressed their enthusiasm to enrol in the NSS and be a part of the noble cause of serving the society. The NSS unit is confident that the new batch of students will carry forward the legacy of the organization and contribute to its continued success.

 The primary objective of the International Yoga Day is to raise awareness about yoga as a holistic practice for mental and physical well-being This observance holds great importance in shedding light on the importance of psychological and physical wellness in today's world. This day encourages the cultivation of a regular meditation practice to foster mental in a stress-free environment clarity and self-awareness, essential for thriving in a stress-free environment.
Outcome: NSS Volunteers enthusiastically participated in the celebrations, showcasing their commitment to physical and mental well-being. The NSS volunteers performed various yoga asanas and breathing exercises, which not only improved their physical flexibility and strength but also had a positive impact on their mental health. Yoga has been proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, while also enhancing focus, concentration, and overall
emotional balance.

Purpose of the Activity: This Rakshabandhan, the NSS Unit of our college organized a special celebration to honor the hard-working RTO, Policemen and RPF officials of Dombivli. As these dedicated public servants are often too busy serving our nation to celebrate the festival with their own families, our students took it upon them to bring the festivities to them.

Outcome: The Volunteers visited the local RTO office, police station, and railway protection force outpost, carrying colourful Rakhi and sweets. They warmly tied Rakhi on the wrists of the officials, thanking them for their tireless efforts in maintaining law and order and ensuring the smooth functioning of public services. The gesture was greatly appreciated by the recipients, who were visibly touched by this display of gratitude and community spirit. For the volunteers too, it was a meaningful experience to directly engage with and express their respect for these unsung heroes of our society. The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ program aims to emotionally connect every individual, family, and citizen with the idea of creating a great India.

Outcome: The NSS Unit conducted a “Amrit Kalash” making activity on 08th September 2023 & 09th  September 2023 (2 days) for  3 hours. The objective of this activity was to make the volunteers aware of the Amrit Kalash activity by painting the kalash (mud pots). As a part of better traffic management, the volunteers were given proper orientation by the Sr. Police Officials Mr. Shashikant and Mr. Gangurda sir on how to deal with the people and crises situation if any arises.

Outcome: 22 Male & 28 Female NSS volunteers were deployed & divided in the significant and sensitive areas. Volunteers had managed to bring out hassle-free Traffic on the occasion of Ganesh Visarjan. NSS Unit had successfully helped traffic personnel by avoiding any chaotic situation leading the public to stay in Traffic for longer durations.

OutcomeVolunteers paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi by lighting candles and observing a moment of silence in his memory and honor. Volunteers also shared their poems and speeches on Gandhi, highlighting his contributions to humanity. Finally, a garland was placed on his photo, symbolizing our reverence for his ideals and teachings. The event was a meaningful tribute to one of the most respected figures in Indian history.

Outcome: The NSS Unit conducted a cotton bag-making activity from 25th July 2023 To 06th August 2023 (13 days) for 2 hours daily. The objective of this activity was to make the students aware of the use of cotton bags that would help to fight climate change and environmental pollution caused by plastic. Purpose of the Activity:  NSS Unit of S.I.A College have ignited the flame of the nation-wide”MERI MAATI MERA DESH: MITTI KO NAMAN VEERON KA VANDAN” campaign, began on 9th August, 2023 to pay homage to the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Principal Dr. Padmaja Arvind, along with staff members, NSS Program officers and volunteers felicitated as a tribute to the courageous ‘Veers’ and is a culmination of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ which commenced on March 12, 2021. The initiative involves a series of programs nationwide, including the planting of trees in the villages, Panch Pran Pledge, etc.

Outcome: On 12th August, 2023 the NSS Unit of The S.I.A. College of Higher Education, Dombivli (East) organised a felicitation programme under the Mera Maati, Mera Desh: Veeron Ka Vandan initiative of the Government of India. Veeron ka Vandan is a heartfelt tribute to the brave hearts – the ‘Veers’ who dedicate their lives to safeguard the nation and serve and protect the citizens of the country. It honours their unwavering commitment and sacrifices in upholding the country’s sovereignty and integrity.

In 2019, the National Sports Day saw a grand launch of the Fit India Mission by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to inculcate the culture of sports and fitness in the country. FIT India Mission has conceptualized FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUN 2.0 to commemorate the 75th Independence Day – “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. Nationwide campaign will be on the concept of “Physical/Virtual Run” in continuum from 21 st August to 29 th August 2023 to encourage fitness and help us all to get freedom from obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety, diseases etc.
Outcome: Through this activity a message was given by the NSS volunteers to the people in the community to stay fit and Healthy through Physical Fitness.

Further, Rakhi was mainly created with the help of basic materials such as wool, paper, etc. The activity was majorly arranged focusing on volunteers’ creativity for making rakhi for Policemens & RTO staff who were operational & were serving the country despite occasional.

Purpose of the Activity: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah under the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's leadership launched the Amrit Kalash Yatra as part of the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign in New Delhi on 01st  September 2023, celebrating India’s 75 years of
independence. Envisioning that by August 15, 2047, India would lead globally in various domains through the upcoming Amritkal and “Sankalp Se Siddhi” initiatives. The Meri Maati Mera Desh program aims to emotionally connect every individual, family, and citizen with the idea of creating agreat India.
Outcome: 75 plants were planted by the NSS Volunteers in the Amrit Vatika. NSS Programme Officer Mrs. Renu Verma has advised and directed to take care of the plants and assigned each plant to each volunteer of NSS to take care and ensure the growth of the plant. She has also motivated students to plant more trees and take care of these trees regularly. Furthermore, the volunteers have planted various plants with variety of samplings namely Mesh singhi, Kadamb, Kala shisham, Ramphal, Kadamb, Kaim, Dhaman, Maulshree, Doodhi, Papda, Garudvriksha, Putranjiva, Kosum, Harra, Bija, Amla, Baheda, Kabeet, Kasai etc. The volunteers also took a pledge for giving their commitment towards maintaining the Amrit Vatika.

World Aids Day

They were equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out this important task effectively and safely.
Outcome: The NSS Volunteers worked tirelessly for a duration of 9 hours, from 09:00 A.M. to 05:00 P.M., diligently reaching out to as many children as possible and providing them with the essential polio drops. Purpose of the Activity: NSS Volunteers recently organized a street play on traffic control to raise awareness about the importance of following traffic rules while driving. Street plays are an effective medium to convey messages to a large audience in an engaging and interactive manner.The NSS Volunteers took on the role of actors and performers, using their creative skills to bring attention to the various traffic rules that should be followed on the roads. Through their performance, they highlighted the significance of wearing seat belts, obeying traffic signals, avoiding drunk driving, and practicing defensive driving techniques.

This act of kindness not only provided nourishment but also symbolized the spirit of unity and compassion.
Outcome: NSS Volunteers took advantage of this popular dish made from flattened rice which is not only delicious but also easy to prepare in large quantities. Volunteers cooked large batches of ‘Poha’ to serve to the poor and needy individuals across various locations. By distributing food on Republic Day, these volunteers honored the principles on which our nation was built – equality, justice, and fraternity. Report of Basic Life Support Workshop along with Organ Donation Awareness Lecture

NSS unit of the College in association with Rotary Club Midtown Dombivli and Indian Medical Association organized Basic Life Support Workshop along with Organ Donation Awareness Lecture on 15th September, 2022. from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm.

Dr. Archana Pate, Hon. Secretary IMA Dombivli and Dr. Meena Pruthi, Chairperson Spiritual Subcommittee IMA Maharashtra State were the resource persons of the workshop. Madam demonstrated hands only CPR. The step-by-step procedure of CPR was explained in detail which is also known as DRSABCD or (Doctors ABCD) that is D- Danger, R- Response, S- Send for help, A- Airway, B- Breathing, C- CPR, D- Defibrillator.

After the workshop hands on training was given to the volunteers, which made the workshop more useful for them.

Purpose of the Activity: Swachh Nirmalya’ Project enables devotees to recycle their votive offerings. Hundreds of corporate, citizen and student volunteers work with Swachh waste-pickers and staff to divert over a hundred tons of this waste each year from the rivers to the recycling stream.

The NSS Volunteer performs Nirmalya Collection activity to clean our natural water bodies. In Nirmalya volunteers segregate dry waste (plastic) and wet waste (Nirmalaya). Volunteers perform this activity on various ghats on the date of Ganpati visarjan. This activity was not only about cleaning the river but volunteers also create awareness and try to change the mindset of people so they don’t throw waste in rivers.

Outcome: The NSS Volunteer performs Nirmalya Collection activity to clean our water bodies. In Nirmalya volunteers segregate dry waste, plastic and flowers.

He administered polio drops to children less than five years old. The drive will be held across the country on Sunday, February 27, and crores of children below the age of five will be vaccinated against polio while adhering to Covid-19 norms like wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing and sanitizing hands.
The Purpose of the activity is to help the government to eradicate polio from our country and make India a Polio free nation.

Outcome: NSS volunteers extended their helping hand to KDMC for conducting the Tuberculosis Survey in the NSS Adopted area Sagarli. The survey was conducted for 10 days. Every day during the survey the volunteers covered 250 houses of the adopted area. Total 2500 houses covered.

The target is to reduce stunting and under-nutrition in children (0-6 years) at the rate of 2 per cent p a; reduce anaemia by 2 per cent among children (6-59 months) and 3 per cent in adolescent girls.

Aligned to the above objective, the purpose of the activity was to start with NSS volunteers, where they will be making recipes which are useful for pregnant women and the same was uploaded on social media to create awareness.

Report on Online Tree Plantation

The NSS Unit of the college organised online tree plantation on the occasion of World Environment Day on 5 June, 2021 as this is an important step of afforestation to maintain the ecological balance of nature.

Volunteers planted saplings in their homes, balcony, terrace and society and also made videos on the same to create awareness about the importance of tree plantation in today’s world. The activity was conducted successfully.

Purpose of the Activity: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday launched Polio National Immunization Day, as part of National Immunization Drive. He administered polio drops to children less than five years old. The drive will be held across the country on Sunday, February 27, and crores of children below the age of five will be vaccinated against polio while adhering to Covid-19 norms like wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing and sanitizing hands.

The Purpose of the activity is to help to government to eradicate polio from our country and make India Polio free nation.

Outcome: NSS volunteers intensively participated in the drive across the Dombivli area and Kopar area.
