Name of the Event: Orientation for FY

Date: 8th July 2024

The orientation session was organized for FYBCOM students for the batch of 2024-25 on Monday, July 08, 2024, at 1 pm. Students were asked to sit in G5 classroom. The orientation started with Hema mam addressing the students, welcoming them on their first day, and guiding them regarding different avenues available for commerce students. Thereafter, teachers of BCOM department oriented the students regarding the program outcomes, objectives of the department, faculty list, infrastructural facilities available in the campus, and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that students can participate in. Vice Principal Booma mam also addressed first-year students.

Outcome: 58 male and 47 female beneficiaries attended the orientation.

Name of the Event: PPT Presentation Competition

Calibre Commerce Club organized "Power Point Presentation Competition” on 24th July, 2024. 10 groups from SYBCOM and 9 groups from TYBCOM participated in the competition. Shriya Shetty and Sakshi Tiwari from SYBCOM were winners, and Ninad Narvekar and Pratik Vira from TYBCOM were winners.

Name of the Event: Video Screening on the Occasion of International Youth Day

Calibre Commerce Club (Department of Commerce) organized a Video Screening Session on Monday, 12th August 2024, on International Youth Day.

The theme for International Youth Day is "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.”

The purpose of the video screening was to create awareness about the issues and challenges faced by today’s youth. The video focused on three life lessons to help youth overcome challenges. Overall, the session was inspiring, thoughtful, and motivational.

Around 14 student volunteers of Calibre Commerce Club showed the video in all the classes.

Name of the Event: Fresher’s Day

Calibre Commerce Club organized Fresher’s Day on 21st August 2024, Wednesday, from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm in the college premises.

The event began with the welcoming of the principal, convenor, and faculty members of the department. The principal advised students to be aware of their surroundings, especially girls. Thereafter, convener Hema mam addressed the students, encouraging them to enjoy the day and create beautiful memories. The event continued with solo singing, solo dance, games, group dance, and lastly, Mr. and Miss Freshers, where many students participated and enjoyed. The event concluded with a DJ session where all students danced and had fun.

Name of the Event: Session on Fundamental Rights

Date: 24th August 2024

Target Audience: FYBCOM

The Department of Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) of The Sia College of Higher Education, Dombivli East, organized a session on the topic of Fundamental Rights with the objective of creating awareness about the primary rights of citizens, which are justiciable and enshrined in the Constitution. The session took place on Saturday, 24th August 2024, at 10:40 AM in the auditorium and was conducted by Advocate Pawan Jaichandani from the Bombay High Court. The teacher-in-charge for the session was Dr. Shilpa Malani.

The session commenced at 10:45 AM with the welcoming of the chief guest, Adv. Pawan, followed by a felicitation ceremony conducted by Convener Mrs. Hema Iyengar. The event was anchored by Grace Thomas and Dharuna Parihar from FYBCOM.

During the session, the speaker emphasized that Fundamental Rights in the Indian Constitution are essential for personal development and human dignity. The students learned about the importance of these rights and duties as a crucial part of the Indian Constitution. A total of 38 male and 57 female students benefited from the session.

Name of the Event: Experts’ Guest Lecture on Green Businesses

Purpose of the Activity:

  • To sensitize students towards eco-friendly entrepreneurship and green businesses.
  • To motivate students to take advantage of business-friendly government schemes.

Activity: Mrs. Jaylakshmi Chekkala, Secretary of Hariyali, Dombivli Vibhag, delivered a lecture on Green Businesses, followed by an interactive session. The lecture was organized on Green Consumer Day. Mrs. Jaylakshmi highlighted the importance of reusing, reducing, and recycling waste materials.

She also emphasized responsible environmental choices, eco-friendly products, appropriate waste management practices, and awareness programs to popularize green products. She explained that achieving sustainable development requires economic, social, and environmental growth to go hand in hand.

According to her, government schemes play a crucial role in promoting green businesses, such as compost and organic manure production, hydroelectric and renewable energy generation, and organic farming. She encouraged students to consider eco-tourism, organic farming, and jute and cotton bag production as viable career paths.

Outcome: Students were encouraged to explore eco-friendly entrepreneurship and green businesses in the future.

Purpose of the Activity:

  • To provide guidance to students regarding their appearance in TY SEM V University level examinations.

Activity: Subject expert lectures were conducted for TYBCOM SEM V students to guide them regarding the paper pattern and important questions from the university exam point of view.

The Calibre Commerce Club of the B.Com Department successfully organized Eminence 2025, an Inter-Collegiate Event, on Saturday, 1st February 2025. The event commenced with an Inauguration Ceremony at 9:30 AM in the Auditorium.

The esteemed Principal, Dr. Padmaja Aravind, along with Dr. Pratima Singh, and Convenor, Mrs. Hema Iyengar, graced the occasion. The inauguration was further enriched by the presence of Sponsors, Upgrad and Growthup India.

This year’s theme, "INNOVATION” – Where Commerce Meets Passion and Success Meets Innovation, set the tone for the day. A total of 161 students (91 male and 70 female) enthusiastically participated in eight exciting competitions held under Eminence 2025.
