The Department of Management Studies (BMS) of The South Indian Association’s S.I.A. College of Higher Education (Autonomous) successfully organized an Industry Expert Talk on 9th January 2026, under the aegis of the Buoyancy Club.

The session was conducted by Ms. Deepa Sujesh, an accomplished HR professional with extensive experience as an HR Business Partner, Senior HR Manager, HR Head, and People Strategy Lead. The session commenced at 10:30 a.m. in Room No. 304 and witnessed enthusiastic participation from BMS students.

Ms. Deepa Sujesh shared valuable insights into the evolving role of Human Resource Management, current industry expectations, and the importance of people strategy in organizational success. She highlighted key areas such as talent acquisition, employee engagement, leadership development, and strategic decision-making in today’s competitive corporate environment. Real-life examples from her professional journey helped students connect theoretical concepts with practical applications.

The session was interactive, with students actively participating in the question-and-answer segment, seeking guidance on career opportunities, skill development, and industry readiness. The expert encouraged students to focus on continuous learning, adaptability, and ethical professionalism.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speaker for her time and valuable guidance. The Industry Expert Talk proved to be highly informative and beneficial, enriching students’ understanding of real-world corporate practices and enhancing their career perspective.

The Department of Management studies of The S.I.A. College of Higher Education (Autonomous) organized the Management Premiere League (MPL) & Bhagam - Bhag on 10th January 2026 with the objective of promoting experiential learning and student engagement. The event was designed to integrate sports-based activities with core management concepts, enabling students to learn through participation and teamwork.

The event included short-format cricket matches along with structured management rounds such as procurement, assembly, packing, dispatch, delivery, and final checking. These activities aimed to develop leadership qualities, coordination, strategic thinking, and operational efficiency among students. Team formation through auction-based selection further enhanced decision-making and planning skills.

Students actively participated with enthusiasm, demonstrating collaboration, discipline, and managerial aptitude. The event was smoothly coordinated by student volunteers under faculty guidance. Overall, the Management Premiere League (MPL) successfully achieved its objectives and provided students with a practical and engaging learning experience beyond the classroom.

Name of the Activity: Corporate Yug – Where Ideas Shape the Future

Date: 24th September 2025

The Buoyancy Club of the Department of Management Studies, The S.I.A. College of Higher Education (Autonomous), affiliated to the University of Mumbai, organized an event titled "Corporate Yug – Where Ideas Shape the Future” on 24th September 2025. The programme was conducted from 10:00 a.m. onwards at Room No. 304.

The event aimed to provide students with insights into the corporate world, encourage innovative thinking, and enhance managerial perspectives through idea-oriented discussions. Students actively participated and gained exposure to contemporary corporate concepts and future-oriented thinking.

The event was coordinated efficiently by the Buoyancy Club members, with smooth registration facilitated through an online process. A nominal entry fee of ₹20 ensured enthusiastic student participation. Overall, the programme was successful in achieving its objectives and contributed positively to students’ academic and professional development.

Name of the Activity: Industrial Visit to JNPA Por

Date: 06.08.2025 

Venue: Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Navi Mumbai

Purpose of the Activity:  The objective of the visit was to learn about the port operations, logistics and shipping.

Outcome: A one-day visit to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), was organised for the TYBMS students on 06th August 2025. A total of 50 learners participated in the industrial visit. They were accompanied by one faculty members. The main purpose of the visit was to acquaint students with various activities and functions related to the port. The students were oriented about the history and the future vision of JNPA, formerly JNPT. Mr. Sanjay Patil, from JNPA welcomed students and gave an overview of the port facilities, the cargo handling and the five container terminals operated by JNPA. Commissioned on 26th May 1989, the JNPA also known as Nhava-Sheva Port is ranked 26th in the world in the list of top 100 container ports. Students were further briefed about the objectives and scope of Vadhvan Port project site in Palghar district, that will be jointly implemented by JNPA and Maharashtra Maritime Board.

Name of the Activity: "Session on International Yoga Day”

Date: 21st June 2025

Venue: College Auditorium

Purpose of the Activity:  Department of B. Com (Management Studies) conducted yoga session in Association with Shree Ambika Yoga Niketan on account of international yoga Day. The primary objective of conducting a yoga session for college students and faculty is to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being among them. Yoga helps students manage academic stress, improve concentration, and enhance overall health through relaxation and mindfulness techniques. It aims to develop self-discipline, boost energy levels, and encourage a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, yoga fosters inner peace, improves posture and flexibility, and cultivates a positive mindset, enabling students to achieve better focus and balance in their academic and personal lives.

Outcome: The yoga session helped students and faculty members to enhance their physical flexibility, improve posture, and reduce stress levels. It created awareness about the importance of mental well-being and encouraged a healthy lifestyle. Students reported feeling more relaxed, focused, and energized, which can positively impact their academic performance and overall personality development. The session also fostered a sense of discipline and mindfulness among participants, promoting balance between their academic and personal lives.

Purpose of the Activity: The primary objective of conducting a First Year Orientation Session is to welcome new students to the institution and help them transition smoothly into college life. It aims to familiarize them with the academic structure, rules, regulations, facilities, and support systems available on campus. The session provides an opportunity to introduce faculty members, highlight extracurricular activities, and create awareness about student responsibilities and code of conduct. Additionally, it seeks to build a sense of belonging, motivate students to actively participate in college life, and equip them with essential information for their personal and academic success.

Outcome: The outcome of a First Year Orientation Session is that students gain a clear understanding of the college environment, academic expectations, and available resources, enabling them to adapt quickly and confidently to their new academic journey. It fosters a sense of connection with peers and faculty, encourages active participation in curricular and extracurricular activities, and promotes awareness of institutional policies and student responsibilities. Overall, it helps build a positive mindset, reduces anxiety about the transition to college life, and lays the foundation for academic success and personal growth.

Purpose of the Activity:  The objective of a First Year Freshers’ Party is to warmly welcome new students into the college community, helping them feel comfortable, confident, and connected in their new environment. It serves as an ice-breaking platform that encourages interaction between freshers and senior students, fostering friendships, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. The event also aims to showcase the college’s culture, values, and talent, while building enthusiasm and motivation among newcomers to actively participate in academic and extracurricular activities. Through a lively and inclusive celebration, the Freshers’ Party creates lasting memories and sets a positive tone for the students’ journey ahead.

Outcome: The Freshers’ Party successfully created a welcoming and inclusive environment for the new batch of students, helping them to feel comfortable and connected within the college community. It provided a platform for first-year students to showcase their talents, build new friendships, and interact with seniors and faculty members in an informal setting. The event fostered a sense of belonging, encouraged teamwork and participation, and contributed to enhancing student confidence and social engagement, thereby laying the foundation for a positive and memorable college journey.

The Department of Management Studies (BMS) of The S.I.A. College of Higher Education organized an inspirational session under the Abhiprerna initiative on 5th February 2026. The program was conducted by the student-led Buoyancy Club with the objective of motivating students through real-life stories of courage, perseverance, and success.

The chief guest for the session was Mrs.Surekha Shankar Yadav, the senior-most female loco pilot of Indian Railways. Her remarkable journey of breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated profession served as a powerful example of determination, resilience, and dedication.

During the session, Mrs. Yadav shared her inspiring experiences from her professional career and highlighted the challenges she faced while pursuing her dream. She spoke about the importance of hard work, discipline, confidence, and perseverance in achieving one’s goals. Her motivational address encouraged students to overcome obstacles and strive for excellence in their personal and professional lives.

The interactive session allowed students to ask questions and gain valuable insights from her experiences. Students appreciated the opportunity to learn from a pioneering personality who has made significant contributions in her field.

Overall, the Abhiprerna Inspirational Session was a meaningful and motivating experience for the students, encouraging them to pursue their ambitions with determination and confidence.
