Name of the Department: Department of Banking and Insurance

Name of the Event: Bridge course for first year students of BI

Date:13th July 2023 to 18th July, 2023.

Purpose of the Activity: The main objective of the course was to bridge the gap between what they already learnt and preparing them for their present syllabus. The following topics were covered in the session.

  • BODMOS rule
  • Percentage
  • Gain and Loss
  • Gain/Loss percentage
  • Equations and Inequations
  • Equation of line
  • Graph of Linear equation
  • Ascending and Descending order
  • Plotting points on a Graph paper and deciding scale
  • Calculations using calculator

The students were finding it difficult to understand the concepts initially but slowly they were able to catch up.

Interactive sessions, participation of Students and Quizzes were conducted during the session.
A post bridge course test was conducted after completion of the syllabus to assess the student’s ability.

Outcome: Student’s response was very good and I felt confident to learn Semester mathematics. Also their performance in quizzes were quite good.

Name of the Event: Intercollegiate Quiz Competition on Nationalisation of Banks in India on Bank Nationalisation Day

Date: 19th July 2023

Venue: SIA college Auditorium

Purpose of the Activity: The main purpose of the activity is to make the students aware of the importance of Day.

Outcome:  20 Groups (40students) participated in the quiz including students from Pendharkar college, Pragati college, Royal college and so on

Name of the Event: First Year BI students Orientation Program

Date: 12th July 2023

Time: 10.00 am

Venue: Room no 309

Target Audience: FYBI

The Department of Banking and Insurance organised an Orientation Program on 12th July 2023 at 10.00 am for the students of FYBBI students to orient them regarding the course. The students were oriented by giving various information on the subject, activities conducted by the department and college, various committees in the college, placement and internship given by the college and various other facilities given by the college.

Our Principal Dr. Padmaja Arvind addressed the students and explained to them the importance of the course and what will be the takeaway by the students from the S.I.A college of Higher Education. Students from SYBBI and TYBBI also shared their experience.

Name of the Event: Bankers Freshers Interaction

Target Audience: FYBI, SYBI, TYBI

The Department of Banking and Insurance under the Bankers and Movers club organised Bankers Freshers Interaction at SIA college Auditorium on 9th August 2023. The main objective of the activity is to involve all the department students together so that they communicate with each other in future.

Our Principal Dr. Padmaja Arvind addressed the students and explained to them the importance of the course and what will be the takeaway by the students from the S.I.A college of Higher Education. Students from SYBBI and TYBBI also shared their experience with FYBI students.

Name of the Event: Counselling Session  on Mental Health for FY BBI

Purpose of the Activity: Awareness of Mental health among  students and ways to improve mental well being .

Outcome:

First year Students were made aware of the counselling cell , role of a counsellor in the college and availability. The Session covered topics such as what is mental health, importance of mental health ,signs of poor mental health : (lack of focus, irritability ) ,signs of good mental health , Myths of mental health etc.

Students actively participated in the discussion and also learned ways to take care of mental health on a daily basis.

Total beneficiaries:   44 ( 22 female and 22 male )

Name of the event : Counselling Session  on Stress Management and Mental Health   for SY BBI students

Organizing Agency : College Counselling Hub – Counsellor

Venue: Classroom

Purpose of the event :  Managing Stress  among  students and ways to improve mental well being .

Outcome: Second year Students were made aware of role of a counsellor in the college and availability. The Session covered topics related to signs of poor mental  health , good mental health , good and bad stress ,stressful situations like exams, interviews, relationships. Consequences of unmanaged stress were also discussed. Students were made aware of different ways to manage stress in day to day life.  Students were encouraged to practice hobbies, meditation, exercise etc

Students actively participated in the discussion and also learned ways to take care of stress and mental health on daily basis.

Total beneficiaries:   40 (30 female and 10 male) students.

Name of the event :  Counselling Session  on Stress Management and Mental Health   for TY BBI students

Organizing Agency :  College Counselling Hub – Counsellor

Venue: Classroom

Purpose of the event :  Managing Stress  among  students and ways to improve mental well being .

Outcome: Third year Students were made aware of role of a counsellor in the college and availability. The Session covered topics related to stressful situations like exams, interviews, relationships. Topics such as Overuse of social media, laziness, procrastination, Consequences of unmanaged stress were discussed. Students were made aware of different ways to manage stress  in day to day life.

Students actively participated in the discussion and also learned ways to take care of stress and mental health on daily basis.

Total beneficiaries:   47 ( 35 female and 12 male ) students

Name of the event : Session on How to be Wise Consumer and Smart Investor
Organizing Agency : Department of Banking & Insurance
Venue: Classroom
Purpose of the event : To guide students to acquire additional knowledge on the subject of Investment and consumer awareness.
Outcome: A session on How to be Wise Consumer and Smart Investor was organised and the members from Consumer Guidance Society if India were invited as resource persons. The students were made aware of various investment avenues and popular choices among consumers. The Session covered topics such as investment alternatives, benefits of early investment, money management etc. Also rights and duties of consumers were discussed.
Milk Testing Drive was also conducted by CGSI. Students were asked to get milk samples from their home and was tested on parameters such as water content , fat %,density, proteins, lactose, salt etc.
Students actively participated in the discussion and also learned about smart ways of investing.

Name of the event : Session on "Career Opportunities as a Credit Rating Analyst”
Organizing Agency : Department of Banking & Insurance

Purpose of the event : Creating awareness of career opportunities as credit rating analyst in credit rating agency -CRISIL
Outcome: The students were made aware of career opportunities as Credit Rating Analyst in Credit Rating Agency –CRISIL. The Session covered topics such as CRISIL Operations ,functions ,advantages , basis of rating etc.
Students actively participated in the discussion and also learned about other opportunities in rating agencies.

Name of the Event: One Day Student Seminar on Opportunities and Challenges in BFSI Sector

Objectives of Seminar:

1. To provide interaction among students and experts,

2. To facilitate knowledge sharing, experience and emerging best practices

Outcome: Students presented research papers on various topics like Digitalisation of Insurance, Children Policy, Start Ups challenges and Issues, Health Insurance and many such other areas were covered.

Purpose of the event: To guide students on Job Opportunities in Finance and Financial Services
Outcome: A session on Job Opportunities in Finance and Financial Services
was organised and Dr Yogesh Ingle from ITM Business School was invited as resource person. The students were made aware of various Job Opportunities in Finance
and Financial Services. The Session covered topics such as types of financial services and job profile required for the financial services companies.
Students actively participated in the discussion and also learned about various skills required for jobs in financial sector.
Total beneficiaries: 183 students (116 female and 67 male)
